It's a perfect beach. You can come with your family or friends for a walk or picnic. Barbecues are prohibited. My only criticism is the lack of supervision and the young people who ride motorcycles along the promenade.

I never knew the shores of Gölcük were so beautiful. I visited for the first time and loved it. It's a long, lush green beach. Sitting areas are lined with camellias, people are drinking tea and picnicking, and the wind is blowing briskly in the 37-degree heat. The young people working in the cafes are friendly and polite. It's like a coastal town in the Aegean. "Just a bit conservative, even."

There's nothing to draw people to the beach. The cafes are unnecessarily expensive. They're comparing themselves to the cafes on the Istanbul coast. That bridge on Kavaklı beach smells awful. They haven't been able to fix that for years. I'm really upset. As a local from Gölcük, look at Degirmendere beach and Basiskele beach. People are out with their families. In Kavakli, there's always a worry about kids getting hit by motorcycles in the park. You want to go to the beach for a bit of peace. On one side, there are cafes with weddings blaring, and on the other, there's music playing in the go-carts. I don't think people need to go there; I think they shouldn't. Degirmendere and Basiskele beaches are smaller than Kavaklı beach, but they're both more organized and lively than Kavaklı beach.

It looks like it has been neglected and abandoned.
It doesn't seem like the municipality has spent any time to ensure that citizens can come and spend time there.
They could at least provide restroom services or place a baby care unit, for example.
It's not a place I can go and hang out with some guys.
