Why Should You Go?

Surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, Vathi Beach is one of Greece's hidden paradises. Its white sandy beach, crystal clear waters, and tranquil atmosphere offer a perfect holiday experience. It's the ideal spot for a peaceful holiday with family or friends, swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying the sea.

How to Get There?

Vathi is located on the island of Ithaca. The most common way to reach Ithaca is by ferry from Kefalonia or Lefkada. Ferry schedules vary depending on the season. To reach Vathi from within the island, you can use taxis, car rentals, or local buses. Because Vathi is quite small, the beach is easy to reach.

Why Should It Be Preferred?

Vathi Beach is a perfect option for those seeking a quiet and peaceful holiday away from crowded beaches. Its natural beauty, clear waters, and relaxing atmosphere offer a unique experience compared to other beaches. Vathi town also boasts numerous restaurants, cafes, and hotels, expanding your accommodation and dining options.

When to Go?

The ideal time to visit Vathi Beach is between May and September. During these months, the weather is warm and sunny, and the sea water is suitable for swimming. It can get more crowded in July and August, so for a quieter experience, choose May, June, or September.

Beautiful sandy beach, narrow in some parts. Clear waters. Parking is nearby. You have to walk along the beach to get from one beach shop to another; there are no roads. There's a few tamarisk trees and an open area with restaurants where you can eat. Two cafes and restaurants offer umbrellas and sun loungers. Bolo (€50 per set and €25 for consumption) and Nostos (€45), late July.

It's a very long beach, with a wider one at the end, where umbrellas and sun loungers (run by Nostos Beach) can be rented for 50-45 euros per day (it's not ancient Greece anymore, and it's August). The beach is beautiful, the sea is clear and gently sloping; you can swim safely. Despite August, it's quite livable. There are some lovely taverns where you can have lunch or dinner. The village is a gem: even just a stroll along the coastline is definitely worth a visit.

VM recommended Manolis, which is located here. The main courses are bad, but the appetizers and casseroles are good, the fava and tarama are good, the chickpeas that come out on Sundays are good, the beer and limni wine are good...
