Bana Public Beach, Hurghada: A Guide

Bana Public Beach in Hurghada is an ideal option for those who want to escape the bustling atmosphere of the city and enjoy the beauty of the Red Sea. Its popularity stems from being free of charge and its proximity to the city center. However, its amenities are more limited compared to other commercial beaches, so it's important to adjust your expectations accordingly.

How to Get There?

Getting to Bana Public Beach is quite easy. You can reach it by taxi or local buses from Hurghada city center. Taxi travel is quick and comfortable, although it can be a bit more expensive. Local buses are a more economical option but may take longer and be more crowded. It's recommended to use Google Maps on your phone to show the exact location of the beach to the taxi or bus driver.

Why Choose Bana Public Beach?

The biggest advantage of Bana Public Beach is that it's free. This makes it an attractive option, especially for those looking for a budget-friendly vacation. Also, its proximity to the heart of the city makes transportation easy and it's within walking distance of many hotels and resorts. The beach is sandy and wide. The sea is usually calm and shallow, making it suitable for children as well. However, amenities such as sunbeds and umbrellas are limited or unavailable, so it's recommended to bring your own umbrella and towel.

What Season to Go?

Hurghada enjoys sunny and warm weather throughout the year. However, temperatures can be quite high during the summer months (June-August). Therefore, if you prefer milder weather, we recommend visiting during spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November). The water temperature is generally suitable for swimming throughout the year.

What to Expect?

Bana Public Beach is not like private beaches offering luxurious amenities. Renting sunbeds and umbrellas may not be possible. You will need to provide all your own necessities. Amenities such as toilets and showers may be limited or non-existent. However, the beach's free access and beautiful sea view compensate for these disadvantages. Food and beverage vendors may be available on the beach, but the variety may be limited.

Overall, Bana Public Beach is a budget-friendly, city-center close option that's great for enjoying the Red Sea. However, don't expect luxury amenities and services. If you adjust your expectations, you're sure to have a nice day.

It's a good place for £50. It's mostly full of locals, but the water is clean and you can swim.

I paid 100 Egyptian pounds. Half the infrastructure was still under construction. There were restrooms, food, chairs and sun loungers... but it felt a bit neglected.

A Beautiful Beach, But Not Tourist-Friendly, Especially Not for Non-Muslim Women. We went to this public beach for the first time to experience the local experience and get a feel for it. It cost 100 Egyptian pounds per person, 200 pounds in total. The view was nice, but there wasn't a single tourist. The staff was polite and welcoming, which we really appreciated. However, I did get some uncomfortable stares throughout the visit. I was wearing a two-piece swimsuit with full coverage, but it still attracted unwanted attention. It made me understand why this beach isn't often visited, especially by women or Americans. While I understand the cultural differences, the experience left me feeling more like an observer than a relaxing experience. It was a learning experience for me, and while the beach itself is beautiful, I wouldn't recommend it to tourists looking for a relaxed or inclusive environment.
