Kyrenia Beach Guide
Kyrenia, the heart of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, is home to some of the Mediterranean's most stunning and pristine beaches, as well as its rich history. This guide brings together the most popular and special spots along Kyrenia's coastline for an unforgettable seaside experience.
Escape Beach (Yavuz Landing Beach)
It's one of Kyrenia's liveliest and most well-known beaches. Famous for its fine, golden sand and clear turquoise waters, Escape Beach is more than just a spot for beach enjoyment; it's a fully-equipped entertainment center offering all-day music, a variety of water sports (diving, jet skiing, canoeing), and high-quality restaurants. The beach is generally well-equipped, with an entrance fee and sunbed/umbrella service.
Alagadi Turtle Beach (Public Beach)
A prime destination for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility, Alagadi, located east of Kyrenia, is one of the most important nesting areas for the Loggerhead and Green Sea Turtles. Therefore, the beach is closed to large-scale development and maintains its natural beauty. It is completely open to the public and free of charge. Its shallow, sandy waters make it a popular choice for families with children. During the turtle protection season (summer), beach use may be restricted in the evenings.
Acapulco Beach
Although located within a large hotel complex, it has a large public area. Located east of Kyrenia, Acapulco offers a long, wide sandy beach. The sea remains shallow for extended periods, making it extremely safe for beginner swimmers and young children. The resort features restaurants, a water park, and beach bars. Entrance fees may vary for non-hotel guests.
Mermaid Beach
Located in western Kyrenia, Denizkızı Beach boasts a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere, known for its cleanliness and high-quality services. Managed by a private facility, the beach offers sun loungers, umbrellas, and showers. Its low crowds and shallow depths make for a comfortable experience. Its sunsets are particularly popular here.
