Büyükçekmece Beach has become Istanbul's waterfront promenade thanks to recent renovations. With its wide walking paths, well-maintained shoreline, and updated landscaping, it's a place you can enjoy both day and night.

Yes, it can get crowded, but it's still a great place for those who want to relax and enjoy the sea view, especially in the evening. Numerous decent, alcohol-free cafes and restaurants line the beach. It offers a pleasant atmosphere for families, walkers, cyclists, or anyone who simply wants to relax and take in the scenery.

A place where you can enjoy the sea, the sunset, and the sound of the waves, a breath of fresh air without being too far from the city. I highly recommend it to those looking for a beach within Istanbul but away from its noise.

I love every beach in Istanbul. They have sandy areas and walking paths. The coastline is full of cafes and food places, so it's a great place. Hoca wasn't crowded because it was cold, but I don't know what it would be like in the summer.

It is very nice to have free public shower areas and free umbrellas, but the sand and the sea of the beach overshadow these beauties. The beach is full of sunflower seeds and cigarette butts, the sea is murky and mossy.

Büyükçekmece Beach – A corner of Istanbul where the sun sets, people mingle, and life moves slowly.

For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Istanbul, breathe in the scent of the sea, and find peace by watching the sunset, Büyükçekmece Beach is definitely worth a visit. Especially in the evening, the beach has a unique spirit: the wind is gentle, the light golden, and the sky awash in pastel hues. The reddish glow that meets the sea as the sun sets is slightly heartbreaking yet equally serene. The daily rush gives way to people walking slowly, children cycling, and thoughtful faces seated on benches.

This isn't just a beach; it's a meeting point. Families, young people, old people, solo walkers, dog walkers—everyone is here. There's a social rhythm to this place. Some play barefoot volleyball on the beach, others swim in the sea, while others simply watch, letting time pass them by. Büyükçekmece Beach is like a living painting, filled with the diversity of its human landscapes.

Especially in the summer months, this place transforms into an open-air square. Corn vendors, bicycle rentals, tiny stalls, street musicians... It's a scene of small joys. Everyone joins in their own rhythm, yet with a shared joy. Despite the crowds, it's generally peaceful. A gentleness and mutual tolerance are palpable in human relations.

But of course, not everything is perfect. There can be foul odors emanating from the sea or sewage outlets. This can be particularly disturbing when the wind changes direction. The municipality needs to implement more systematic cleaning and odor management. Furthermore, in some areas, garbage bins can be insufficient, and the sight of litter on the ground is demoralizing. This is not only the responsibility of the administration but also of the public.

Still, these drawbacks aren't strong enough to overshadow its overall beauty. Büyükçekmece Beach is one of Istanbul's respite spots. A breath of fresh air, a window amidst the concrete and noise. It's perfect for relaxing, walking, or simply taking in the scenery. It's also quite easy to get to, and parking is generally sufficient.

It gets a bit crowded on weekends, but recent renovations have made it a nice touch. It offers a bit of a seaside atmosphere within the city. There are restrooms, changing rooms, and other amenities. This year, sections for retirees, women, and families have been added. Private vehicles are not allowed to access the beach. Public transportation is a two-minute walk away. You can take a tour of the coast on a vintage train. A stroll along the beach after sunset is especially enjoyable. Those who prefer can bring their own table and chairs and spend pleasant moments chatting while enjoying the sea view.
