Battle of Granicus 334 BC

The Battle of the Granicus, in 334 BC, was Alexander the Great's first major victory against the Persian Empire. Alexander's smaller, but better-trained and disciplined army inflicted a crushing defeat on the numerically superior Persian army near the Granicus River. This victory led to Alexander's rapid conquest of Anatolia.

It's okay in this region. The sea is generally rough. The sand is coarse, there are stones that can cut your feet, and seaweed is always present.
Sunbed and umbrella 105 TL

About 10 years ago, landscaping was done. It used to be a crummy place. Sand was brought in from outside, a kiosk was opened on the beach, and lifeguards, umbrellas, sunbeds, showers, and changing rooms were added. Nowadays, there are restrooms just ahead, in the square. Of course, there's a fee. The sea wasn't very nice. The construction of a thermal power plant right next to it had polluted the sea considerably. This year (2025), extra sand was brought to the beach, and the rocks and other debris were scooped out. The silt at the bottom is gone, too. The water is very clear this year. It's a very enjoyable place. The sunbeds have been replaced, and large fabric umbrellas have been placed in the front row. The showers and changing rooms have been renovated. It's beautiful. You can bring your own chair and table and enjoy the sea. As far as I know, umbrellas aren't allowed, but you can open your own umbrella near the end of the beach, near the ancient castle. This year (2025), two sunbeds and one umbrella cost 300 TL. The front row, the one with the big umbrella, is 400 TL.

The sea is relatively clean, after all, and the waves and seaweed of the Marmara Sea are abundant. The beach is beautiful and clean. Two sun loungers and an umbrella cost 300 TL. If you don't want to pay, there are empty spots toward the end of the beach where you can put up your own chair or umbrella and swim. If you arrive early, there are even spots with awnings and benches, I think the municipality owns them, but they were all full when I went. Restrooms and showers cost 10 TL, and there are changing rooms. There's a small buffet on the beach, which you can eat there, or, like me, you can eat at the buffets behind the beach. A regular toast costs 100 TL at the beach buffet, an Ayvalık toast costs 150 TL, and water is around 20 TL. They don't sell alcohol. You can also buy it at the liquor store a two-minute walk away. The sea doesn't deepen quickly, but I recommend being careful, as it's a mix of rocks and sand. I saw a lifeguard in the paid area. Parking isn't a problem if you arrive early; there are plenty of spots at the beginning of the beach. If you arrive late, there's a large area near the end of the beach where you can park. It's a 25-minute drive from Biga city center. I hope these ideas help. 4/5 points.
